About

My name is Jack Campbell.   I’m a writer, a thinker, a traveler, and a student of international relations, among other things.  I think of the writings collected here as journal entries that attempt to add flesh to the news, worldwide.  It seems to me the world is smaller than it used to be; our consciousness of events in distant places, that maybe just twenty years ago most of us wouldn’t have given any thought to, has somewhat suddenly expanded.  China used to be so far away.  What’s happening there, or in Kenya, or in Colombia is well worth exploring for its own sake, but it’s also worth talking about because it affects us more directly now (in ways we probably haven’t even thought of).

Ultimately, I envision this site hosting a variety of writings, from informal blog entries to formal essays and well-researched position papers to humorous travel writings to sobering travel writings to interviews with notable people in the field.  And hopefully some collections of photography because photographs tell stories all by themselves.  Thanks for checking into the Global Thinker, I invite you to leave thoughtful and respectful comments.  We are much more interested in asking questions than giving answers.
